In Memoriam - Forever Our Unicorn

To my Pardi: 

 

I still can’t believe you’re gone. I am also struggling to find the right words to give the dog that meant the world to me a proper tribute. This was going to be our year and having the best teammate ripped away from me seems so unfair. 

 

But I do not want to dwell on the sadness or grief, but celebrate everything you meant to me in the short time we had. We called you our unicorn because you probably shouldn’t have existed, but as we loved you over the years, I think it was because you were a once in a lifetime dog. 

 

Losing you as an agility partner is excruciatingly painful. I don’t think running agility will ever feel the same again. We spoke the same language (even if it didn’t always mean touching yellow on contacts LOL) and shared the same soul. Running jumpers courses with you felt like flying and was such an adrenaline rush. I will always remember countless first place runs with you and how much fun you made agility for me. I’m so proud of everything we accomplished together and wish we could have finished some of my goals. But I also know those goals and accomplishments don’t mean anything and I would trade them all in to just have you back in my arms on the couch. 

 

You were more than just a competition dog to us. You went everywhere with us and your absence will be felt for a long time. I always loved your squeal when you met a stranger at a brewery, the way you zig-zagged on walks to make your walk three times as many steps as us, how much you loved your splash pad in the yard, or how aggressively you would snuggle your head into my chest on the couch. 

 

I will miss you and love you forever and am so glad your legacy will live on in your kids. I will try my hardest to turn tears into smiles. Til we meet again.

Affectionately nicknamed our "unicorn" due to the story behind her existence, Pardi is a powerhouse! She is a fast little agility dog, and has incredible work ethic. She gives her all in everything she does. All of our house guests recognize Par as our most aggressive snuggler who demands just a little more attention than the rest of the pack. Despite our move and the covid-19 pandemic delaying her training and agility career, she is kicking butt in the agility ring. Check out a few of her runs on our YouTube channel:
